Variety Rally Around Victoria
A crew of Pirates in 25 vintage themed vehicles rolled into Yarrawonga and The Sebel as part of the Rally Around Victoria on Sunday, March 5. Variety is Australia’s biggest and original longest running motoring charity event that assists children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
Lotus Living, developers of Silverwoods Resort (including The Sebel Yarrawonga and Black Bull Golf Course) have very proudly supported and raised important funds for Variety Childrens Charity over the years and jumped at the opportunity to host the rally entrants this year. It was great to see the recent rally held just around Victoria drop in and visit us.
Supported by ACE Radio, the four-day rally travelling 1500km commenced in Melbourne before finishing in Whitfield on Monday 6 March.
Variety Motoring Events Manager Scott Watson said that the second annual Rally Around Victoria has been amazing with everyone involved having a great time, getting to dress up as pirates for their dinner and stay at The Sebel, and the community providing fantastic support.
“While having twenty-five cars involved in the Rally around Victoria this year, each car had at least two people in it which was great to see,” Mr Watson said.
“This is the second time we have held this particular event after lockdowns and covid restrictions over the past few years prevented us crossing state borders and we found success in remaining just in Victoria.
“The Variety Bash will still continue to travel across Australia but the Rally Around Victoria is going to continue to host their own event each year also to get around to towns within our own state.
“It was an absolute pleasure to see the Variety rally group drop in for a stay at The Sebel Yarrawonga and enjoy a dinner and evening at Stock and Barrel along their current rally journey,” Silverwoods Resort General Manager Andrew Freak said. “We wish them all the very best with their travels for such an incredibly wonderful cause.”
During the years, Lotus Living (Developers of Silverwoods Resort), have taken part in a few of the Variety road rallies (Team known as the ‘Land Monkeys’) around Australia and been involved along with charity partners in raising further funds via home auctions, in particular at another Lotus development ‘Jubilee’ located in Wyndham Vale (Victoria’s Western corridor) back in 2019.
Over the journey the Land Monkeys have been able to contribute to Variety – the Children’s Charity a total of $885,000 to date. Something we are so incredibly proud of. The team is looking forward to breaking over $1 million total raised for 2023, unlike other years we have already started!
Lotus Living sends a tremendous ‘Thank You’ to all of our kind supporters and contributors past, present and those that continue to support us year after year!
